Growing and Changing

We so appreciate everyone's enthusiasm and attendance during our "Meet the Teacher."  The faculty and staff was thrilled to see the excitement the children brought back to our hallways for the 2012-2013 school year.  I know this was a change in format, and I wanted to thank all of our parents and community members who attended for such a warm welcome.

This year you will see other changes as we work to develop rigor and relevance in our instruction.  There are many innovative, powerful educational initiatives that we are learning about and implementing to optimize the quality of instruction for every child.  Some initiatives are national initiatives, such as the implementation of the new Math Common Core State Standards.  Other initiatives are system-wide initiatives, led by our visionary superintendent, Dr. Alan Lee.  Those initiatives include the Digital Renaissance, which has multiple components, ranging from providing students with the needed technology to become globally competitive to development of online assessment and differentiated instruction for students through IStation programs.  Teachers are being provided with professional development in these areas, as well as, an array of other areas.

The staff at Daphne Elementary School takes pride in delivering service to our families, developing substance in our instructional programs, strengthening our reputation of a caring, innovative environment, and making educational decisions for the betterment of children with integrity. I know that is a high expectation, but we feel having high expectations for ourselves produces high expectations of our children.
